Understanding and editing Shipping Info for Products (Parcels and LTL Freight)
This video shows how to edit shipping information for an individual product.
Important notes about shipping:
1. If an item ships in more than one package. On the LTL/Small Package page, check the box that says "This item ships as multiple packages."
Go to the APP page for the type of quote you need (LTL or UPS) and on the Box Sizes tab, scroll to the bottom and find the product under "Items that ship in multiple packages" and click Add a Box there. (don't add the box to the table above). Put in the box information there and Save. The dimensions, etc. that you set for those boxes is what the application will use. It will IGNORE any boxes or dimensions set in the Shipping & Delivery Shopify settings.
2. Product size must be smaller than Box size. On the product shipping settings, make sure that the weight and all dimensions are less than those for the box it will ship in. If a product weighs 80 lbs unboxed and 85 lbs boxed, the product weight (recorded on the LTL/UPS product settings under More Actions) should be 80 lbs and the box weight (recorded in the app under Box Sizes) should be 5 lbs.
3. Freight Only. Products that have the Tag of "freight_only" will not show UPS shipping even if it's available for that product.
4. App product weight overrides product weight. There are two places that a person can put the product weight. On the product detail page, along with the description, etc. and under More Actions on the app product page. The second one - the app product page - is the one that's used for quoting (per the app developer Eniture).

Update Shipping Info for Lots of Products at Once
If making an update to the shipping information for an individual item or a smaller number of items, it's best to do that on the Shopify site using the instructions provided above.
If making updates to shipping info for lots of products, then use this process below:
- Export shipping information by going to either the XPO LTL Freight Quotes or UPS Small Package Quotes app and click on the Import CSV tab. Click on the Template link in the description. Enter your email in the popup and click send to get all products.
- Update Quote Method, Freight Class, NMFC, Weight, Length, Width, Height columns (Check the Tags for accuracy too, don't change SKUs)
- DO NOT upload file on the same Import CSV screen because the duplicate SKUs will mess things up here just like they do for prices. Use the spreadsheet as a guide and manually update the information for each item OR follow a similar process as used for pricing above and pull out the duplicate SKUs first and only hand enter those while importing the rest.
- IF you upload a file, make sure all the SKUs are unique. Here are the steps:
-
- Upload file on the same Import CSV screen, check the "The first row contains column headers" box. Click Next.
- On the next screen "Step 2", assign the Quote Method, Freight Class, NMFC, Weight, Length, Width, and Height Columns to each field using the dropdown. Click Next, enter your email in the popup up and click Send to start the import.
